Paperwork, Andersen Windows and a Few Vintage Things…

Today, the HVAC company that we hired will submit their paperwork to the township. The building inspector will review all the paperwork from all the sub contractors (mason, electrician, plumber, framer/builder and HVAC) and then issue the builder’s permit. It could take up to ten days. By the time we get it, it will be the end of August. I hope we get this done before it snows!

Almost two weeks ago, we met with the Andersen window rep at Home Depot and chose 200-series windows for the existing part of the house and the new construction. One of the windows only comes in a 400-series so that was one exception. We’ll have a bow window in the living room at the front of the house (the middle window is fixed) and the end windows are casements.

The kitchen will have a box bay window overlooking the patio and a sliding door leading out to the backyard. The upstairs master bedroom will have French doors leading to the balcony. The majority of the windows throughout the house will be double hung. However, the window above the kitchen sink will be a casement.

Yesterday, when I was in downtown Wayne I stopped in a very nice furniture consignment store called The Velvet Shoestring. I perused upstairs and downstairs and took the following photos. I had my eye on a pair of rabbit lamps that had just come in and hadn’t been tagged yet.

I think I might go back and see if the lamps are still available; I have an affinity for rabbits.

I unwrapped the cord from the rabbit and took a close up…now I wish I had bought at least one.

When I stepped in the store, I immediately saw this iron baker’s rack and Provencal pottery.

I walked downstairs where there was another large room full of furniture, lamps and chandeliers…

I also had my eye on this iron chair but I think I’d paint it a different color…

When I looked at this chandelier I thought of the daily dusting it would require…

This would be a fun gift for a helicopter pilot; it looks like it belongs in a den.

I have a similar pot rack and one of these days we’ll hang it in the new kitchen addition…

A pretty sleigh headboard…

Iron and brass headboards (King & Queen)…

By the way, we saw a goldfinch yesterday in the tree where the yellow birdfeeder is hanging. It actually worked in attracting the bright yellow bird, we couldn’t believe it. It didn’t land on the birdfeeder but it was one branch away. It took two weeks until we spotted one…

And lastly, an Andrew Wyeth print…
