Home Security: D-Link HD Outdoor Wi-Fi Camera for Homes

Here at Brick House 319, we have our own home security in place. We have indoor and outdoor cameras installed. While doing an ongoing, top to bottom renovation, we have had many people streaming in and out our front and back doors.

Without going into too much detail, things have happened along with items disappearing. There will always be people who feel that they can help themselves to what is yours. There are opportunists in all shapes and forms. I learned a big lesson in our previous renovation, when someone stole something out of our house (I took him to court). Back then, the technology of today didn’t exist. Now, everyone can have a home security system with small inconspicuous cameras that are easily installed and relatively inexpensive (under $200.00).

The D-LINK HD OUTDOOR Wi-Fi CAMERA’s tag line is “Durable on the outside. Smart on the Inside.” The trusty camera is available on Amazon for $157.99.

With the free mydlink app, homeowners instantly have peace of mind by keeping an eye on their home when traveling, from work or when out doing errands. Additionally, you can keep an eye on things while you’re in your house, when things could be happening right under your nose.

  1. Thank you Sue. This information is so helpful. A home security system in an excellent idea. I was going to look into this very thing as we have had several thefts in our area.
Police have warned people to keep their overhead garage doors closed and lock their front and back doors even if they are home.
A friend was gardening in her front yard and her overhead garage door was open. The thief slipped into her garage, went to her master bedroom, stole her gold jewelry and exited through a back sliding door without her realizing it! She was devastated when she discovered her irreplaceable, sentimental possessions were gone.

    1. That’s terrible to have sentimental possessions stolen; what a bold thief! It’s a good thing your friend didn’t enter the house while the thief was inside.

  2. From what I see it needs one more thing.

An outlet to plug in to.

I have nothing like that close to my front or back door.

    1. You could possibly use an extension cord. Of course it would have to be concealed somehow or a thief would rip the camera down.
