Pennsylvania Hotel Sales Tax Information-After 30 Days!

In the state of Pennsylvania after staying as a guest for more than 30 days in a hotel, you don’t have to pay sales tax. Additionally, the tax that you paid for the previous 30 days is due back to you.

For those of you who might find themselves in a hotel or motel for longer than 30 days due to renovating your house, check with your state about hotel sales tax.

If you peruse the leading vacation rental websites, many owners of vacation rentals offer short-term and long-term rentals along with listing sales tax. They cannot collect sales tax after a 30-day stay in Pennsylvania. And this goes for other states as well, so make sure you check the state you’re in before paying.

  1. This is true. I work the Front Desk at a hotel in the Pittsburgh area. We have a few long term guests staying for work. We remove sales tax after 30 days. If you check out after 30 days and return it starts over and taxes are applied to the new stay until you reach 30 days again.
